Here is another one of my favorite Summer dishes...
...chard with walnut sauce (and millet in this case). You can find part 1 and 2 of my favorite Summer dishes here.
I love chard! There are a few greens I only eat in Winter (like kale) and a few I only eat in Summer (like chard) and when one of these greens which I do only eat in a certain period of the year, is available, then I eat A LOT of it. Like, we have chard at least once a week these days :)
My favorite way to eat chard is to steam-cook it for some 10-15 minutes and eat it with a yummy garlic-walnut sauce. Its the easiest dish ever and yet its so yummy!
For the sauce I just blend one clove of garlic with a handful of walnuts, soy sauce and water in my high speed blender. It makes a really creamy yummy sauce which goes well with all kinds of greens and rice/millet/quinoa/buckwheat or whatever you like to eat your greens with. On the picutre I am having fried millet mixed with some cousous with my chard.
By the way, I like the chard with the red stem better than the one with the white stem. But both are good and both go so well with the walnut sauce, so just get the one you can find and try it!
Oh and of course chard is sooo super healthy (next to the fact that its so delicious) with lots and lots of calcium, iron, vitamin C and potassium.
How do you like chard? Did you try it at all or is this veggie maybe even new to you? I would love to know :)
What a coinsidence, today I'm making delicious chard and chicken pasta with creamy sauce:) In fact I should do it now, so I better be going:P Your dish looks so yummy, I'm hungry:) Have a great day, hugs:)
