Why I Could Never Be a Real Fashion Blogger

Do you perceive yourself as being a Real Fashion Blogger?

For some reason I have been thinking about if I am a real fashion blogger or not and what a real fashion blogger actually is. I came to the conclusion that I am not a real fashion blogger and that I cannot ever become a real fashion blogger. why? Well here are my top five reasons:

1. Real fashion bloggers KNOW about fashion

Thats what I think. I think real fashion bloggers should know about fashion. This does not mean that they have to know the newest trends, but they know either about current trends or about past trends, they know about designers, about materials, shapes and prints. I do not know and I do not feel like I want to know. I love clothes and I love to think about what to wear but I am not interested in designers, in fashion history or in the latest trends. So this is reason no 1 for why I could never be a real fashion blogger.

2. Real fashion blogger try new items/styles/designs/colors

I pretty much stick to the same style and even to the same colors in yeeeeaaars. I always liked and always will like blue, black and white. Pink and grey have been added in 2014. Thats about it ;) I wear the same sweaters and jeans that I bought back in 2011 and my favorite dress is from 2006! Of course I add new items and somehow also new styles to my closet every now and then but at the end of the day, I look pretty much the same every day, I stick to my style and thats why I think I could never be a real fashion blogger.

3. Real fashion bloggers have loads of shoes and bags

I have tote bags and two pairs of shoes for Winter and two for Spring/Fall. And I do not feel like getting more because I think two pairs of shoes for one seaon is absolutely fine. 100% failed for being a real fashion blogger! ;)

4. Real fashion blogger truly inspire

I follow like a few fashion bloggers on instagram and here in the blogger world and I LOVE looking at their OOTDs and I get inspired by them - because they wear things differnetly, they have really individual outfits, they are creative in their looks, they just truly inspire. My blog here is a lot of fun for me and I love taking those outfit snaps with my husband. But I do not believe that I truly inspire with my rather casual looks. I may inspire with my food-posts though ;)

5. Real fashion blogger iron their clothes

Haha. yeah, true story. I never iron anything and hence, I can never look like a real fashion blogger ;)

One more reason could be that I am against fast fashion and most fashion bloggers are living fast fashion. But this one does not really count, because I am convinced that one can be a great fashion blogger without promoting fast fashion.

By the way, I do not think that it is a bad thing not to be a real fashion blogger. Its not like my goal to be one. My goal is to be happy and I totally am happy - with my style, my blog, my life. These are just some thoughts that I had.I do not mean to criticize anyone with this post and I complety respect if you think a real fashion blogger does not have to fit into any of the five points I mentioned here.

I can totally see that this post is sliiighlty provocative and I am looking forward to read your commnts on it! What do you think makes a real fashion blogger? Do you see yourself as being one? I really would love to know!!!

Sending much love to all of you wonderful people out there! Thank you for passing by!

  1. I don't know where I stand as far as being a "real" fashion blogger. I do think if you want to be considered relevant, you need to be on top of trends which means trying them out. I don't think that means being wasteful with the clothes you do have. I have items I have had for years that I hope will never go out of style. When I do tire of something, simply decide it wasn't me in the first place, or think it is no longer trendy, I donate it, sell it, or take it to my local resale shop. While my blog may make it appear I have loads of shoes/clothes (and by all standards I do), my closet has not grown too much since I started blogging. I try to regularly clean out and donate.

  2. Great post dear! Love that you wrote on this topic because many people these days call themselves fashion bloggers. To me,a fashion blogger is someone who really inspires people with their outfits and the way they see the world around them.Don't know how to really explain but i think if you really want to be a fashion blogger that you need to have your "stamp" in the world, that you are recognised for something, whether it is your unique style, beautiful photos or something else.

This is just my opinion,i don't want to insult anyone out there who claim for themselves that they are fashion bloggers, you can be whatever you want to be :D

  5. I don't know if I agree on everything you say here. You don't need a lot of money or loads of clothes to be a real fashion blogger. You just need to be passionate. Obviously, if you want to be a fashion influencer you need to stand out, but as far as fashion blogging goes, you're a blogger if you understand what fashion is truly is and you show it in your blog.
If you want to be a fashion blogger you totally could, you just have to know what you truly want :)

  6. I have very similar feelings to this! I have never been one to follow fashion trends, or even keep up with them. I just wear the types of clothing I like, even if it may not be "in style". As far as "real" fashion bloggers go, most of the ones I see, seem kind of impersonal to me and I find myself having little to say in the comments. One of the reasons I like reading your fashion posts so much is because you express your genuine feelings behind the clothes you wear, and always leave room for plenty of conversation. To me, that is what "real" fashion blogging should be and I find it inspiring!

  8. I avoid labels. You're a "real" blogger whose content reflects your life and interests. That makes your blog worth reading. Maybe you'll enjoy talking about fashion and wearing outfits, maybe not; it isn't important. What matters is that you're living the life you want.

  12. Haha, I also dont iron my clothes:P I really hate it, but sometimes especially in Summer my skirts really need to be iron and with tears in my eyes I have to do it:P I dont know much about fashion, I only know what fits me and what I like and if I'm comortable in smthg I'm gonna wear it, I dont care if its trendy or not:) I havent tried chia seeds, but I really want to, I've heard they are really good for health. And I love walnuts, any kid of nuts really. I;m thinking about making a homemade natural peeling using nutshells, I'm curious how it will work out:) Have a great evening, hugs:)))

  18. Super interesting post! But I think there is no rules that determine the blogger. For me blogger means person who share his opinion and views.. nit this one who iron his clothes.

  23. You are honest, and I like it. I was talking "to myself" about all what is mentioned! I don't have strict rules what is real fashion today for me, actually I have enough different Sweeties that I visted and I 'm gonna visit because their posts or photos or recipes are interesting to me.
Thanks for making the post from my, very similar thoughts :)

  24. Haha, loved this post! I guess I fulfill several of these although I wouldn't have thought so...but even fashion is subjective in the end. Have a great weekend!!

  25. This is a great post! I must admit that I do sometimes fall into the trap of not feeling like I'm an adequate enough blogger because I don't always live up to these things or I don't always look as fashion forward as others but reading this post has helped me realised that that's ok. We all have our own individual styles that make us stand out and you may not see yourself as a "real fashion blogger" but that's what makes you stand out to me. All your outfits are so wearable and the way you promote sustainable and organic fashion is what makes you stand out and inspire others :) xx
